Sut Jhally knows what he is talking about


“Culture is the place and space where a society tells stories
about itself, where values are articulated and expressed,
where notions of good and evil, of morality and value, are
defined. Every society has a cultural field that talks about
these things. In our culture it is the stories of advertising
that dominate the cultural field. Advertising, in fact, is the
main storyteller of our society”- Sut Jhally


Advertising tells us that the world would be a better place if we bought their product..

Advertising says we want whatever they are selling and what they sell is important.

Advertising says we want love and beauty and cash.

They think we get happy from anything that is exspensive and we want it and we get mad if we don't have it; for most people advertising is a big weakness

I think if the people that made the ads, if they thought like us then it would not be bad at all. Advertising is an easy way to lie to people. Most people fall for the ads and then they buy and buy and buy some more,then they get thrown out by the landlord,the garbage man doesn't pick up there anymore, and their wife/husband leaves them.

I agree with the fact that people fall for the ads and try to get the product in any way, but in your last sentence it was a little overboard, but probably happens from time to time. The opinion is still in the right direction.
